It is so easy to get caught up in day to day life: work, kids, cleaning, cooking...that sometimes the more spiritual side of life can slip away without you even realizing it! This book, An Invitation to the Supernatural Life, was such a blessing to read. To me, it was a very humbling book to read and made me put my own life and spirituality into perspective. While I might get overwhelmed by laundry and appointments, this book helped put me in check.
I appreciated that Michele Perry gave us a taste of life in South Sudan and her own life, in which she was born without a leg or hip. It would be easy to focus on the negative, but instead Ms. Perry focuses on living life, helping others, and growing in God. This book helped me that though life is overwhelming, that growing in the Spirit is of up most importance. Not just for me, but for my family, and for helping others. One of my favorite parts of the book was on "Friendship with God" (p193)about how our relationship with God relies on our level of intimacy with Him. For anyone who is seeking a supernatural life or trying to rekindle the Spirit, it was a great reminder that God is our friend, someone we can talk to and confined in.
One part of the book that I really enjoyed was that each chapter had discussion questions and activation exercises. I am bringing this book to my MOPS (Mothers of Preschool) group in hopes of reading it together and having open discussions about the Supernatural life that we can each obtain!
Michele Perry's "An Invitation to the Supernatural Life" is such a great, quick, and easy read! Highly recommend it!
